Sagehen Capital Management (SCM)

Sagehen Capital Management (SCM) is a student run investment fund at Pomona College. A Pomona College alumnus, class of 1983, devised the idea of allowing students to manage $1 million in an international equity long/short portfolio. The fund has been in existence since the spring of 2007 and is operated solely by students with oversight from the alumnus. The aim of the organization was to teach investment theme generation and analysis. SCM donates a $25,000 management fee to Pomona College at the beginning of each year. This insures that there is a donation even in years where there are no profits. The returns above inflation and the management fee are given as a gift to Pomona College at the end of each year.
